Science communication and community enhancement
Science communication: I have participated in science communications events like The Jepson Herbarium Bryophyte Workshop (2019), Expand your Horizons (2018), Cal-Academy Nightlife stands (2019) and La Feria de las Ciencias (2016). I also co-designed and taught the class “Phylogenetic classification of plants” for highscool instructors with my collaborator Ana-Isabel Pérez-Mausan.
Community enhancement: I am committed to contribute to the development of a sense of belonging among the latino community that is interested in evolutionary sciences. I have volunteered in the Spanish Speaking Citizens Foundation, I was part of the board of the Latino Association of Graduate Students in Engineering and Science at UC Berkeley and I am a coordinator of the Club Eco-Evo Latinoamérica.
