We implement a bayesian total evidence dating analysis to infer the divergence times of Solanaceae. The use of this integrative model allowed us to simultaneously explore fossil position and infer divergence times while accounting for topological uncertainty.
In this paper we present smoothed spatial phylogenetics metrics, that directly use taxa probability of occurrence without the need of occurrence thresholds. We apply these metrics to a dataset of California bryophytes to uncover diversity patterns across this biodiversity hotspot.
We clarify the type specimen of Calasterella californica. This involved clarifying a previous lectotypification by Evans, and designing an epitype from a recently collected specimen with genetic information available.
Funded by the California Conservation Genomics Project, we assembled de novo the genome of Calasterella californica, a West Coast endemic and xerophytic liverwort.
Various xerophytic liverworts role into their ventral scales when dessecated. Often, these liverworts also have purple scales. In this paper, we test whether these red ventral scales differentially absorbe UV-radiation. This constitutes the first step towards understanding the potential role of ventral scales on adaptation to xeric environments.
